Aqua Plate Special

Forget the Blue Plate Special; this May, Oregon restaurants will offer a sustainable seafood version: the Aqua Plate Special. To honor American Wetlands Month and The Wetlands Conservancy’s 30th anniversary, TWC is partnering with select restaurants throughout the state for the second annual promotion.

Throughout May, participating restaurants will promote one Aqua Plate Special menu item, featuring sustainable seafood whose habitat is dependent upon the health of Oregon’s estuaries, and from which a portion of proceeds will be donated to The Wetlands Conservancy (TWC). Participating chefs will create delicious dishes highlighting some of the region’s most sustainable seafood, including Oregon oysters, Dungeness crab, pink shrimp and wild-caught salmon.

Participating restaurants include seven from Portland: Aquariva, Café Nell, Lucy’s Table, Nostrana, Southpark, Tabla and Wildwood; and three from the coast: Clemente’s in Astoria, Local Ocean in Newport and Newmans at 988 in Cannon Beach.

Adding to the fundraising efforts, Lenné Estate has launched an ongoing promotion and released the 2008 Lenné Wetlands Conservancy Pinot Noir, of which nearly half the sale of each bottle is being donated to TWC.

Bottles sell for $45 and are available at Lenné Estate, 18760 N.E. Laughlin Rd., Yamhill, or www.lenne
