Ruddick/Wood to host Block Party, Sunday, May 24

With Memorial Day weekend marking the start to the high season of the Northern Willamette Valley, Paul Losch and Kyle Lattiimer of Ruddick/Wood have invited some of their favorite valley vendors to throw a kick-off block party in downtown Newberg, Sunday, May 24. Edwards Street between 1st and 2nd streets outside the Tavern will be closed for the day, with entrance reserved for attendees of the Block Party. Festivities start at 4pm and go until 8pm.

The event will feature food from Ruddick/Wood alongside some of Paul and Kyle’s favorite local food purveyors and craft brewers; live music; and a kid's activity area. The team at Ruddick/Wood is also partnering with the Yamhill Community Action Partnership to host the event as a non-perishable food drive benefiting the Yamhill County food bank, which distributes over 1million pounds of food to the community annually through 13 local food pantries.

“Our goal is for the Block Party to be an extension of the restaurant for the day as a gathering place for the local community and visitors to the valley, while providing necessary resources to the local food bank.” Paul and Kyle

Food vendors have been chosen for their shared commitment to highlighting the best products the valley has to offer, and it will show in their chosen street-food dish. Ruddick/Wood is running the grill, and will be joined by the crew from Let um Eat out of Salem, and Renaissance Catering from Newberg with their wood fired oven. Also expect scoops of ice cream provided by Storr's Smokehouse. All food will be priced under $8.

For wine-lovers that have been sipping wine all weekend, nothing tastes better than a cold beer. Deception Brewing of Dundee, Long Brewing of Newberg, and Fire Mountain Brew House of Carlton will be pouring $4 beers throughout the day. Anyone wanting to drink wine or try a cocktail can head inside the Tavern where the full bar can be enjoyed.
