Folin Cellars Celebrates Opening

By Wine Press Staff

After nearly a year of anticipation, Folin Cellars will open the doors of its new winery facility to the public, beginning Aug. 8. The 10,000-square-foot winery and tasting room is located at the estate vineyard in Sams Valley, which lies in the Rogue Valley AVA, just outside of the town of Gold Hill.

Owned and managed by Scott and Loraine Folin, the winery will house the production of all Folin Cellars wines—estate-grown warm-climate varietals, including Viognier, Tempranillo and Syrah—and provide a tasting room for local and visiting wine enthusiasts.

The winery was designed to facilitate high-end winemaking while still maintaining architectural interest. The three barrel rooms and main workspace are located 10 feet underground to reduce the energy needed to heat and cool the facility. The harvest deck is at ground level, which allows the processing of fruit to the main level by gravity.

The spacious tasting room overlooks scenic Sams Valley and is surrounded by 25 acres of vineyards. Much creative energy was focused on the design of the tasting room to create an inviting environment. With stained concrete floors, open beam ceilings, granite tasting bar and huge windows, visitors will be able to enjoy the best of what Southern Oregon has to offer.

“We are thrilled to be welcoming guests to our winery,” said Loraine Folin. “So much work has been put into capturing the natural beauty of the estate and creating a space that is comfortable and welcoming to guests. We are anxious to share our facility with the public.”

The public is encouraged to visit Folin Cellars during the Grand Opening Celebration Aug. 8, noon to 6 p.m. Folin Cellars is located off Hwy. 234 (9200 Ramsey Road, Gold Hill). The tasting room will begin regular weekend hours starting Aug. 15.
