Jonah’s Just Begun
Jonah’s Just Begun, a foundation targeting a cure for a rare childhood syndrome, recently held a fundraiser at Methven Family Vineyard in Dayton.
Willamina native Jill Wood started the nonprofit foundation in honor of her son, Jonah, a 2-year-old who was diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome Type C. Because of the syndrome, he lacks an enzyme that breaks down toxic materials in his body.
Jonah is still in good health. Eventually, though, the buildup of toxins will lead to physical and cognitive damage and eventually death.
“There currently is no cure for this disease. Please, will you help us find one?” Wood asked in promotional material for the fundraiser.
