Founded in 1983 by Jim Bernau with the dream of creating world-class Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley Vineyards has grown from a bold idea into one of Oregon’s leading wineries.
With 1,000 acres under vine, Willamette farms its Estate winery in the Salem Hills, sparkling winery Domaine Willamette in the Dundee Hills, Tualatin Estate Vineyard near Forest Grove and Elton Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills. All vineyards are certified sustainable by the LIVE and Salmon-Safe programs.
Tualatin Estate Vineyard, established in 1973 by Oregon winemaking pioneer Bill Fuller, is one of the state’s oldest and most respected vineyard sites. Its 171 acres have produced acclaimed wines for over 45 years. Tualatin became part of Willamette Valley Vineyards through a 1997 merger.
The original Estate in the Salem Hills offers guests wine and food pairings, seasonally-themed winery and cellar tours, vineyard views, cozy fireplaces and a 65-foot lookout tower overlooking the valley.
Willamette Valley Vineyards has grown beyond its Estate with tasting rooms and restaurants across Oregon, Washington and California, including Lake Oswego, Happy Valley, Bend, Forest Grove, Walla Walla, Vancouver and Folsom.
In 2022, Jim and Jan Bernau expanded their vision with Domaine Willamette, dedicated to world-class méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines. Located in the Dundee Hills, Bernau Estate Vineyard spans 20 acres of biodynamically farmed, Demeter-certified Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Visitors enjoy elevated wine and food pairings, immersive tours, mountain views and beautifully landscaped gardens overlooking the valley.
Unique among wineries, Willamette Valley Vineyards is owned by more than 20,000 wine enthusiasts (NASDAQ: WVVI & WVVIP). Founder Jim Bernau believes one of the healthiest forms of business is ownership by the community.
