Résolu is French for “resolute”: purposeful, determined and unwavering. It’s a fitting name for a family winery that began not with a tasting room, but with a commitment to make really good wine.

Father-and-son winemakers Scott and Cameron Nelson filled their first barrels in 2014. Today, Résolu partners with select growers across Oregon’s Willamette Valley and Washington’s Columbia Valley, choosing vineyard sites where each varietal can thrive. Long-standing grower relationships, meticulous cellar practices and patience guide the winemaking process. Wines are released when they’re ready, not simply when the calendar says they should be.

The result is an unusually diverse small-lot portfolio reflecting the family’s love of French and Italian wines: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Viognier and traditional-method sparkling wine from the Willamette Valley; Bordeaux and Rhône-inspired wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Syrah and the signature Triomphe Bordeaux blend; and Italian favorites including Barbera, Sangiovese, Primitivo and Vino Barbitivo.

That attention to detail has earned Résolu consistent recognition across its portfolio since its earliest releases. Recent standouts include the 2022 Syrah Côte-Rôtie Style, awarded Double Gold and 95 points at Savor NW, Gold and 94 points at the Sunset International Wine Competition, and Gold and 90 points at Pacific NW Wine Competition. Résolu has also been named Hillsboro’s Best Winery & Tasting Room three consecutive years, 2023–2025.

But Résolu was never intended to be wine that simply collects medals or dust.

Scott and Kathie have long believed that really good wine should also be approachable enough to open, enjoy with a meal, share with friends and replace when the bottle is empty. That philosophy carries into the tasting room: no pretension, no pressure, and no expectation that guests know the “right” words. Some visitors want to explore vineyards, vintages and winemaking. Others simply want a great glass of wine and a comfortable place to spend time with friends. The Résolu team meets guests where they are.

Located in walkable Historic Downtown Hillsboro, the urban winery and tasting room is surrounded by restaurants, shops, galleries and other local destinations. Visitors can explore tasting flights and current releases, enjoy small plates, attend live music and pairing events, or simply settle in with a favorite glass.

Community has been part of Résolu from the beginning. Before opening a tasting room, the Nelsons introduced their wines through intimate tastings in homes around the Portland area. Today that same spirit continues through Cellar Club gatherings, Small Lot Sessions with fellow independent winemakers, community events and the return of private in-home tasting experiences.

Résolu is also a veteran-owned family winery. Co-founder and winemaker Cameron Nelson served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2005–2009 and decided during his final deployment in Iraq that he wanted to return home and pursue winemaking alongside his father. The winery’s signature Triomphe Bordeaux Blend is released publicly each Veterans Day, with $3 from every bottle sold donated to veteran-focused nonprofit organizations. Résolu also offers veterans Cellar Club preferred pricing throughout the year.

Whether you discover Résolu in the tasting room, at a local event, through the Cellar Club, or around your own dinner table, the invitation is the same:
