Wineries Help NW Forests

Oregon’s Duck Pond Cellars and Washington’s Desert Wind Winery have announced plans to finance the replanting of up to 5,000 trees in fire-ravaged Northwest forests.

The wineries, which have partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation, have pledged to plant one tree for every bottle of their wine sold in their tasting room and at Oregon and Washington retail establishments during the months of March and April.

The wineries’ “A Tree for Every Bottle” campaign will be promoted using social networking and specially-marked displays throughout Oregon and Washington.

Both wineries are family-owned and operated. Their wines are distributed throughout the United States and internationally.

Located in Dundee, Oregon, Duck Pond Cellars currently produces approximately 100,000 cases of wine each year, using estate-grown fruit from several vineyard sites in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and Eastern Washington’s Wahluke Slope.

Using fruit from two estate vineyard sites on Washington’s Wahluke Slope, Desert Wind Winery currently produces approximately 25,000 cases of wine annually.

The winery is located in Prosser, Washington.
