Silver Anniversary on Tap

To commemorate the milestone, Chehalem has launched a new wine-on-tap program in their downtown Newberg tasting room — the first of its kind in the North Willamette Valley.

Visitors can purchase a one-liter etched bottle for a $5 deposit, then fill it with the just-released 2009 Pinot Noir 3 Vineyard ($27) or 2010 INOX Chardonnay ($17), offering wine lovers a first taste of Chehalem’s 25th harvest.

“The new refillable bottles are not only easier on the earth, they’re an amazing value,” said Chehalem founder/winemaker Harry Peterson-Nedry. The liter bottles hold 26 percent more wine at the same price as a 750-milliliter bottle. “It’s our way of encouraging people to reuse the bottles over and over again.”

Chehalem’s wine-on-tap program is available at the tasting room, 106 S. Center Street,â¨ Newberg, which is open daily, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Don’t Miss!

Chehalem will further observe its silver anniversary with its annual art show on Aug. 20. Guests can taste wine and peruse local work focused solely on Ridgecrest, the location of Chehalem’s first plantings.

On Sept. 4, Chehalem will host its 25th Anniversary Harvest Celebration in the vineyard with live music, plates created by skilled chefs and plenty of wine. Donations only. The party begins at 4 p.m.
