Protecting Place and Origin

On Oct. 19, representatives of the world’s leading wine regions gathered in New York City to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the signing of the Joint Declaration to Protect Wine Place & Origin, a global movement aimed at ensuring wine place names are protected and not abused or miscommunicated to consumers.

To mark the anniversary, results from a poll of U.S. consumers, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, was released; it found that Americans, in particular, have very strong feelings about the role of location in making wine-purchasing decisions.
