Jazz and Wine

As certain as daffodils and cherry blossoms blooming are definite signs of spring, so is the Silverton Wine & Jazz Festival.

In its sixth year, the East Willamette Valley festival, May 19, appear look a bit different this year. Instead of the “wine walk” format, with venues spread throughout the downtown area, the 2012 event will have a central main stage with wineries and food vendors set up on Silverton’s Main Street. 

Musicians include Linda Hornbuckle with Eddie Parente and Frank Tribble, The Quadraphonnes, Guitar Summit, Michael Shoehorn Conley, and Janice Scroggins and Reggie Houston. 

There also will be a series of intimate concerts preceding and topping off the festival. Silverton and Sherwood High School jazz bands will kick off the event at noon in front of the Palace Theater; inside, college bands will play from 1:30 to 5 p.m., in a non-alcohol, family friendly and free venue. Main stage music will last from 2 to 9 p.m.
