Fighting Hunger with Food

In an effort to fight childhood hunger, Portland’s best chefs, restaurants, wineries and distilleries will contribute their talents to Share Our Strength’s 25th annual Taste of the Nation Portland on May 8, 5 to 9 p.m., at Jeld-Wen Field.

Taste of the Nation will raise critical funds needed to support the No Kid Hungry campaign — a national effort to end childhood hunger in America by 2015.

Guests will have the opportunity to sample bite-sized offerings from more than 50 restaurants and sample beverages from local breweries, wineries and distilleries. The event also will feature a silent auction of lifestyle and epicurean packages.

Local charities benefiting from this year’s event include: Oregon Food Bank, Partners For A Hunger-Free Oregon, Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank and St. Vincent de Paul Food Recovery Program.

Tickets start at $85 and can be purchased online at www.portlandtaste.org
