PDX Wineries Unite

Grochau Cellars, Hip Chicks do Wine, Vincent Wine Company, Helioterra Wines, ENSO Winery and Seven Bridges Winery have joined forces to form PDX Urban Wineries, a new association created in an effort to increase awareness of the growing winemaking community in Portland.

“Most people don’t know they can have a winery experience right here in Portland without having to drive to and from wine country,” said John Grochau, owner of Grochau Cellars. “We all have great locations in the city with easy access to anyone living within our urban boundaries. Engaging with the Portland community in the location where the wine is made helps to make them feel a part of the process and not just purchasing a product.”

The group will hold its first ever consumer and trade event, PDX Urban Wineries Premiere, June 12, from 3 to 6 p.m. at The Slate (2001 N.W. 19th Ave., Portland).

Tickets are $20 and include tastes from all six wineries, along with appetizers from local food purveyors.

Members of the trade are also welcome and can taste for free if they reserve a ticket by June 9 — otherwise, $10 admission at the door. Trade members should e-mail info@pdxurbanwineries.com if they wish to attend.
