Sokol Blosser innovates with personalized wine experiences

New culinary experiences and spaces bring tailor-made hospitality to wine country

DAYTON, ORE. — Sokol Blosser Winery, one of Oregon’s oldest yet most innovative wineries, continues a tradition of implementing new ways to appreciate its award-winning wines. Coinciding with the one-year anniversary of its new Tasting Room, Sokol Blosser introduces new culinary experiences in the kitchen, tableside service and a reopened John Storrs Tasting Room.

“For us, wine may be our business, but it’s also very personal,” says Michael Brown, director of consumer sales. “Everyone has a unique interpretation of each wine they taste. Their impression can be influenced by so many things, from food pairings to the environment to the people with whom it’s shared. We created a tasting room with this in mind, and we’re pleased to bring our vision of this customizable experience to life with offerings that are unique in this region.”

Augmented Wine and Food Program

Sokol Blosser now offers an interactive wine tasting experience through a new wine and food pairings menu. With a culinary specialist now on staff, Sokol Blosser has deepened its ability to provide guests with a more intimate and personalized pairings experience, both in the pairings presented and the dialogue around the relationship of each wine and food pairing.

Each week, the culinary specialist will have a new menu, pairing four wines and bites – anything from meat, cheese and sandwiches to dessert. The culinary specialist determines the week’s food pairings based on the wines showcased. Seasonal flavors and availability, along with special requests, further help define the dynamic menu. Guests are encouraged to call ahead to reserve and communicate how best to personalize their tasting experience. The wine and food pairing experience is available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with pairings starting at $20 per person ($16 for Cellar Club members).

In addition, tableside service is available at Sokol Blosser on a daily basis where guests can order wine flights tableside with the option of ordering a butcher’s board of delicacies as well. Originally introduced for a trial-period last summer, tableside service is available on The Front Porch, and flights start at $20 per person (complimentary for Cellar Club members). Sokol Blosser’s new Tasting Room is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

John Storrs Tasting Room Reopens for Tastings

As Sokol Blosser celebrates the first anniversary of its new Tasting Room, the winery looks back and honors its beginnings with the reopening of the John Storrs Tasting Room. Built in 1978, during the infancy of the Oregon wine industry, it was the first purpose-built tasting room in Oregon. In addition to providing guests a taste of the region’s viticultural history, the space presents the ideal setting for large groups seeking a personalized introduction to Sokol Blosser and Oregon wine. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, the John Storrs Tasting Room serves a five-wine flight for $15 per person (fee is waived for Cellar Club members).

About Sokol Blosser Winery

For more than 40 years, before there was an Oregon wine industry, the Sokol Blosser family has been growing grapes and creating exemplary wines. Located on a certified organic 120-acre property in Oregon’s Dundee Hills sub appellation, Sokol Blosser has consistently captured the terroir of the region as expressed through the brilliance of its estate fruit. This resolute quest for excellence is inherent in its environmentally sensitive winemaking techniques, a core value for Sokol Blosser since the planting of its very first vines in 1971. The winery produces pinot gris, pinot noir, and small quantities of single block pinot noirs under its Sokol Blosser brand name, as well as a white blend, red blend and sparkling wine under the Evolution brand name.

Now guided by sister and brother co-presidents, Alison Sokol Blosser and Alex Sokol Blosser, along with brother and chairman of the board Nik Blosser, Sokol Blosser Winery is entering a new millennium of winemaking, hospitality and sustainability.
