Chemeketa Center Celebrates Decade

The Northwest Viticulture Center is located at Chemeketa’s Eola Campus.

Chemeketa’s Northwest Viticulture Center will honor its 10th anniversary with an open house Tuesday, May 21 from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

A kick-off to the Willamette Valley’s Memorial Weekend wine tasting events, the event will include a tasting of student and graduates wine, tours of the facility and a celebratory program beginning at 5:30 pm.

“We will recognize students, our steadfast faculty and industry leaders,” says Chemeketa Community College President Cheryl Roberts. “Chemeketa celebrates the vitality of the wine industry within our region and pledges to remain innovative leaders in educating the next generation of winemakers.”

Chemeketa was the first academic institution in Oregon to offer a two-year AAS degree in viticulture and winemaking, launching its program in 1999. The program has been located at Chemeketa Eola since 2003.

This anniversary event is free and open to the public and will be held at Chemeketa Eola (215 Doaks Ferry Road, Salem). To RSVP, e-mail vmw.program@chemeketa.edu or call 503-399-5139 by Friday, May 17.
