A Winderlea Moonlight Fete
Every year on the last weekend of January, the winegrowers in Burgundy celebrate and give thanks to their patron, Saint Vincent. Legends abound as to the origin. It is said that one day St Vincent stopped at a vineyard to chat to one of the wine growers. His donkey started nibbling the young shoots on the vine with the result that the following year, the crop was far more productive. The Saint’s donkey had invented pruning!
Today, Burgundy has some 80 Saint Vincent brotherhoods forming mutual aid fraternities set up to help winegrowers obtain assistance from neighboring vignerons in time of need. The celebration of Saint Vincents day officially kicks off the start of the pruning season in vineyards in Burgundy. At Winderlea, we have used St. Vincents day as the start of pruning our estate vineyard as well. Celebrate and Learn more about Saint Vincent at Winderlea. 4 course dinner paired with Winderlea Wines
