Redford Praised at Oregon Wine Symposium

By Karl Klooster

At the annual Oregon Wine Symposium in Eugene last month, one of the largest in the event’s six-year history, industry leaders gave public recognition to individuals who have made long and meaningful contributions to the industry.

“I knew something big must be going on when I saw Myron Redford wearing a suit,” said Kevin Chambers, whose numerous industry credentials include founding ownership and management of Oregon Vineyard Supply, Results Partners and Resonance Vineyard.

Chambers’ observation was spot on. The perennially casual Redford, co-founder of Amity Vineyards, received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering efforts dating back almost 40 years.

The Industry Awards and Guest Chefs Dinner also announced the following honorees for 2010:

• Cole Danehower, publisher of the Oregon Wine Report and Northwest Palate, was named Outstanding Industry Partner for his many years of support both as a journalist and wine judge.

• Vineyardists Allen Holstein, and Dick and Betty O’Brien were recognized for Outstanding Service.

• The Founders Award went jointly to Pat and Joe Campbell of Elk Cove Vineyards and Don and Traute Moore of Quail Run Vineyards.
