Go with the Flow, Have Some Fun

Like years before, Confluence: A Wine, Beer, Seafood & Music Festival promises to be a relaxing and memorable Oregon Coast event.

The third annual fest, set for February 12–14 at the old W. F. Jewett School in Gardiner, will offer a variety of activities, starting with the Friday-night Wine Taster’s Dinner, featuring food by Bedrock’s Catering and wine pairing by Umpqua Valley’s Henry Estate Winery. During the dinner’s four courses, Bill York and Paul Taylor of the Worn Out Frets will entertain guests.

On Saturday, attendees will hear live music by Hot Tea Cold, Mark Madden & the Ferguson Brothers, the Michael Tracy Band and Paul Biondi & Band. Sunday’s main stage line-up includes PBA & the Hot Flashes, the Young Bucs and, returning from Las Vegas, the Speaks Brothers—also known as Wild Horse Theatre.

On Saturday, in the Rogue Room, guests can peruse art, including ice sculpture carvings by Chris Foltz, art and crafts, and cooking demonstrations by area chefs. Sunday, the room will offer chowder samplings from the Reedsport and Winchester Bay Chowder Cook-Off, a contest that enters its winners to compete in the 2010 Chowder, Blues & Brews contest in Florence in the fall.

Wineries and breweries scheduled at this time include: Wakonda Brewery, Deschutes Brewery, Bradley Vineyards, River’s Edge Winery, Wild Rose Vineyard, Saginaw Vineyard, Abiqua Wind Vineyard, Henry Estate Winery, Pyrenees Winery and Old Coyote Winery. Food vendors feature local seafood and other delicacies.

Tickets are available at The Reedsport/Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce office. There will be free bus shuttle service available at specific locations in Winchester Bay, Reedsport and Gardiner (check website for specifics). There is also plenty of free parking available at the event.
