Pinots of the Caribbean
The beautiful Youngberg Hill Vineyard and Inn will set the stage for an evening of Latin music for lovers and swashbuckling for the more adventurous when Salem Concert Band presents Pinots of the Caribbean on Sunday, August 30, 2015. Kurleen Nowickas will join the band singing music of Antonio Carlos Jobim and selections made popular by the band Pink Martini. John Skelton will lead the band in a magical evening of music ranging from The Peanut Vendor and Tico Tico to an arrangement of music from the film Pirates of the Caribbean. Dr. Joan Paddock, professor of music and band director at Linfield College, will offer the perfect prescription for enjoyment with her flugelhorn stylings on Stardust, arranged by McMinnville composer Kevin Walczyk.
The stunning setting among the vineyards has made this season opener for the band an audience favorite for the past four years. The only thing dark and brooding will be the lovely Pinot in your glass as you sit back to enjoy the show. The concert will take place rain or shine on the lawn at the vineyard. Wine and other beverages will also be available for purchase by Youngberg Hill Vineyards—please no outside beverages (but then who would want any?). Bring a lawn chair or blanket and sit back for an evening of award winning wine, beautiful music, and a gourmet meal. That is enough plunder to put a smile on the most cutthroat of pirates.
The Youngberg Hill Vineyards & Inn is located at 10660 SW Youngberg Hill Road, in McMinnville. Tickets for the concert are available beginning July 20 for $20.
