Vine-to-Glass Gathering

At the seventh annual Science of Wine, May 6-8, Rogue Valley winemakers and chefs will gather with vinophile visitors for three days of activities examining the art, craft and science of making and tasting wine.

The Ashland event is one of Southern Oregon's premier wine events and the largest annual fundraiser for ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum. Revenue and sponsorships help fund the award-winning, nonprofit museum's on-site science education and outreach programs that serve 15,000 educators and schoolchildren in Southern Oregon and Northern California each year.

Guests will be treated to a showcase of Southern Oregon wines and winemakers at an elegant sit-down dinner and auction held at Ashland Springs Hotel on May 6. Winemakers from RoxyAnn, Velocity, Wooldridge Creek, Red Lily, Pebblestone Cellars and Trium will introduce their wines paired with hors d'oeuvres along with each of the five courses. Dessert will be served with Ashland-based Organic Nation Spirits vodka and gin. The menu will incorporate fresh, locally grown food donated by small farms that contribute to the Rogue Valley's expanding culinary reputation. A live wine-themed auction, including heritage wine lots, will take place between courses.

On May 7, attendees can attend wine lectures at the museum. People interested in more comprehensive knowledge of traditional wine aging or cutting-edge winemaking can choose from two interactive, educational lectures held at the museum.

The event ends with the Science of Wine Gala on May 8. The popular party at ScienceWorks returns with 15 wineries pouring alongside food from 15 restaurants. Adding to the culinary feast is music by The Mixers Band, a mystery wine bottle raffle and a silent auction.
