Take the Road Less Traveled

By Wine Press Staff

As winter fades and spring sprouts, Oregon’s Willamette Valley readies itself for a new season of sips.

During March 7–8, 35 wineries and businesses along Route 47 in the Northern Willamette Valley will celebrate spring by offering “Spring on Sip47,” a weekend full of wine tastings—new and current releases—food pairings, saké tastings, live music, discounts and more.

The group, called Sip47, is brand-new, but the idea is as old as the beautiful hills that are planted to vines: Slow down and enjoy the road less traveled.

Spring on Sip47 is an official event (and one of the first) of Oregon 150, the state’s sesquicentennial, honoring 150 years of statehood, which kicked off Feb. 14.

Participating wineries and related businesses include: ADEA Wine Co., Anne Amie Vineyards, Apolloni Vineyards, Beacon Hill Estate, Brookside Inn, Cana’s Feast Winery, Carlton Cellars, Carlton Farms, Carlton Inn, Cliff Creek Cellars, David Hill Vineyards, Elk Cove Vineyards, Filling Station Deli, Grape Escape, Horse Radish Cheese & Wine Bar, Kramer Vineyards, L Bar T Bison Ranch, McMenamins Grand Lodge, Montinore Estate, Patton Valley Vineyard, Plum Hill Vineyards, Purple Cow Vineyards, RD Steeves Imports, Raptor Ridge Winery, SakéOne, Scott Paul Wines, Stag Hollow Vineyard, The Tasting Room in Carlton, Troon Vineyard, Tualatin Estate Vineyards, Tyrus Evan, Urban Decanter Wine Bar, WillaKenzie Estate, Zenas Wines and Zippy’s Pizza.

Oregon’s Willamette Valley offers an unparalleled variety of landscape, crops, scenery and businesses, and nowhere is it more evident than along the stretch of Route 47, which ambles north-south from Highway 99W to Banks, through the historic towns of Carlton, Yamhill, Gaston and Forest Grove.
