Oregon Wins San Francisco Kudos

Dozens of Oregon wineries were among more than 4,000 wines entered in the recent 2010 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Sweepstakes, the largest competition of American wines in the world. Among Oregon’s Best of Class winners was Willamette Vineyards, for its 2008 Riesling in the under $15 class and for its 2007 Elton Vineyard Pinot Noir in the $40 to $49.99 class. King Estate’s won two double gold medals for its 2008 Signature Pinot Gris, and Acrobat Pinot Gris, and 3 additional gold medals for its Domaine Pinot Gris, its WA Riesling and its NxNW Columbia Valley Cabernet.

Also winning Best of Class were Eddy Family Wines, for its 2007 Pinot Noir in the $25 to $29.99 class

Artisanal Wine Cellars, double gold, for its 2007 Chehalem Mountains Adams Vineyard Pinot Noir in the $25 to $29.99 class.

Brandborg Vineyard & Winery, gold for its Gewürztraminer 2008 Umpqua Valley

Cliff Creek Cellars, gold, for its 2006 Southern Oregon Sam’s Valley Merlot in the $15.00 to $19.99 class.

Cubanisimo Vineyards, gold, for its 2008 Willamette Valley Cubanisimo Estate Pinot Noir in the $30 to $34.99 class.

Del Rio Vineyards, gold, for its 2008 Rogue Valley Viognier in the $20.00 & Over class.

Lumos Wine Co., gold, for its 2008 Willamette Valley Rudolfo Pinot Gris in the $15 and over class, and double gold for its 2006 Temperance Hill Pinot Noir in the $35 to $39.99 class.

Pudding River Wine Cellars, gold, for its 2008 Willamette Valley Stainless Steel Chardonnay in the $15 to $19.99 class and gold for its 2006 Willamette Valley Estate Pinot Noir in the $25.00 to $29.99 class.

Red Lily Vineyards, gold , for its 2006 Rogue Valley Tempranillo, $35 class.

Solena, Judges Choice, for 2008 Oregon Pinot Gris, in the $15 & Over class.

Verve 800, double gold, for its 2008 Oregon Gewürztraminer, in the dessert wine class.

Willamette Valley Vineyards, Judge’s Choice, for its 2007 Willamette Valley Elton Vineyard Pinot Noir in the $40.00 to $49.99 class; Judges Choice for its 2008 Willamette Valley Riesling in the under $15 class, and gold for its 2008 Willamette Valley Pinot Gris, in the $15 & Over class.
