Medaling in McMinnville
“Sip,” the McMinnville Wine & Food Classic, is inviting the wine world to its 17th-annual event staged this year at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum March 13-15. Event coordinators promise superb cuisine, fine arts and crafts, guest chef demonstrations, live music and wine tasting offered by about 60 Oregon wineries. More than 160 vendors are expected at this year’s event.
Hours of the event are from 3 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, noon to 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
General admission is $15 and includes admission to the Evergreen Space Museum. Additional tasting fees may be charged by vendors. Wine can be purchased by the taste, the glass, bottle or case. Parking at the site is $5, but shuttle service is available from Red Lion, McMenamins Hotel and Best Western Vineyard Inn. COMPETITION RESULTS
A panel of 11 wine industry professionals tasted 116 wines from 35 Northwest wineries and awarded nine gold medals, two of which went to Spangler Vineyards of Roseburg. Eola Hills Wine Cellars 2006 Gewurztraminer Late Harvest Vin d’ Esprice won the competition’s Best of Show.
